SUVelo members compete in open, masters and championship events. We maintain a presence in local races such as those staged weekly at Heffron Park, Sydney Olympic Park, Eastern Creek and other key venues. While most riders pursue road events we are also active on the track as well as mountain bike races.
SUVelo Club Races
SUVelo is proud to be in a position to host monthly races open to members of all Clubs. Due to popular demand, from May we will be offering two women’s grades in addition to men’s A – D.
The team at SUVelo really hopes that all members get behind the racing and come along to give it a go - if you've never raced before, this is the perfect opportunity to race in a supportive, controlled environment with your peers. Plus great prizes as always.

Racing Etiquette Cycle racing is a great way to spend the day and by following a few simple rules we can all enjoy the experience. Accidents happen in racing and on the road however by following a few basic rules these can be largely avoided. We asked Rob Crowe from Ridewiser to put together the following racing etiquette rules to remind everyone of their responsibilities when racing. These rules were developed for criterium racing but they apply just as well to road racing. Everyone's primary obligation is their safety and that of their fellow riders, so please take a few moments to read the reminders below!
- Maintain your line & keep left unless overtaking
- Do not change direction suddenly
- Do not pass underneath in a corner
- Do not overlap wheels
- Do not pedal through corners
- Do not ride outside the cones
- Do not push, pull or interfere with another rider
- Do not contest sprint from further back than 10th wheel
- Sprint in a straight line once out of the final corner
- As the lead rider – guide the peloton safely past hazards
- Communicate your intentions with others
- Keep both hands on the bars (unless taking a drink)
- Follow all directions from marshals and officials
